Wedding Wednesday: Rosalind and Blake’s Australian Wedding

Today on The Bride’s Cafe, I fell in love with Rosalind and Blake’s Australian wedding, captured by Sugar Love Weddings. It truly is delicious.

Rosalind’s gown is a custom couture gown by Hanna Couture. As she tells The Brides Cafe, “I knew I wanted something with a restrained, vintage feel and that I didn’t want any floral, shiny satin, beading or sequins.”

This wedding is practically the epitome of a vintage wedding. Isn’t it glorious?

Wedding Wednesday – Winter Wedding Photos

Today’s Wedding Wednesday features a winter wedding photo shoot by Camilla Binks and Branches Floral with makeup by Enizio. My favorite part of this photo shoot is the hot chocolate. And the lovely cover-up, reminiscent of the bolero from Lily & Iris we featured on last week’s Wedding Wednesday.

Wedding Wednesday What I Wore

This morning at 5:30am, I was at the Channel 2 studio downtown doing modeling bridesmaid dresses for Lily and Iris, the latest addition to Salt Lake City’s wedding industry. Perfect feature for today’s Wedding Wednesday!

What I Wore:

Black and white chiffon dress
Bolero jacket
Clutch with rhinestone closure
Feather hairpiece

Considering it’s been 0*F recently, this black and white ensemble styled by Hilary is glamorous and warm, ideal for outdoor photo ops. The light bodice draws attention up and the bolero balances out the body, making it a great choice for women with fuller hips.

One of the things discussed on air this morning is how today’s bridesmaid dresses are no longer the “one and done” dresses. They can be worn again for evening wear, cocktail dresses, and even to the beach (if hemmed properly!).

Abbie’s aqua dress, Amanda’s fuschia silk dress, and the ensemble I wore are all available at Lily and Iris in downtown Salt Lake City.

Wedding Wednesday: Introducing Enizio

Cable Car Couture recently caught up with Cynthia, the co-owner of Enizio, and have brought you the interview just in time for Wedding Wednesday. If you’re not familiar with Enizio, you’re in for a real treat! In that case, allow me to introduce Enizio.

Cable Car Couture: What is Enizio?
Enizio: Enizio is a team of hair and makeup artists that work on location or in studio. We specialize in Bridal Hair and Makeup Design but we also work in Film, Print, Runway and one on one sessions in our studio such as cutting, coloring, makeup education, hair and eyelash extensions and permanent cosmetics.

CCC: How did Enizio begin?

E: Enizio started out as an onsite business. We, initially, were “kitchen artists” LOL. Our father advised us to find the clients first and then take on the overhead. We happened to be at the right place at the right time and met Hilary Anderson (owner of Alta Moda Bridal Boutique) and she introduced us to the bridal industry. Shortly after we quit the Kitchen business and embraced the bridal industry. From there we were able to take on film projects, photography and runway and then 3 years later, we opened our studio.

CCC: What services does Enizio provide?

E: Enizio is dedicated to all things hair and makeup. So whatever the need, we can do it! We offer styling and makeup on-site and in our studio, we also offer traditional cutting, thermal cutting, coloring, waxing, makeup application and education, permanent cosmetics, eyelash extensions, Instant gratification hair treatments and education for the client on every level with all things hair and makeup.

Shoot with Beckstead - Hair & Make Up by Enizio

CCC: What are some projects Enizio has participated in recently?
E: Some of my favorite projects would have to be “Shoot with Beckstead 2009″ Hosted by Julie Parker. Its an event where the best photographers around the state and other parts of the country come to train with David Beckstead–The “It” wedding photographer. I love it because we are free in our design and we get some amazing shots! This year we were able to team up with Chad of Switch Salon and Keith Bryce from Project Runway to create some really amazing looks.

Another is creating the editorial spread for January’s issue of Utah Bride and Groom, which were still in the process of doing. We have had to stay within design limits but we have had so much fun designing and seeing the looks come together. The spread is based around hair and makeup so your in for a treat!

We also have been able to participate in the filming of Forever Strong, Gordon B. Hinckley–A Giant Among Us, and other local film projects thanks to Laurie Vuckich. Next week we will be filming the UT portion of Bully Beatdown an MTV reality show. I’m really excited!

New York Photo Shoot with Enizio and Alta Moda

CCC: What are some trends you’re seeing in the bridal industry this year?
E: I had the chance to travel to New York with Hilary Anderson and Heidi Uhl for Bridal Fashion week. What I saw a lot of was bling bling and more bling. Bows, Flowers and Lace. I’m no gown expert but the fall is bringing in some great stuff. As far as hair, I try not to follow the trends. We design around the gown and the feel of the wedding in general. We try to keep it as classic as possible and try to bring in the trend with a hair accessory. Since your wedding pictures last a lifetime, we never want you to be embarrassed about how you chose to wear your hair! Editorial and Runway work–That’s a whole different ball park. This year, Stuffed birds in the hair! LOL! I’m not even joking!

Wedding Wednesday – Utah Brides

What girl hasn’t fantasized of the day they would get married and what their dress would look like? Here are some Utah Brides featured in the Utah Bride and Groom magazine who wore marvelously modest dresses and will give you new ideas for your perfect wedding dress.

The bride wore: an Allure Champagne-colored, crystal-beaded gown with a custom-made bolero. The gown featured a long train, fitted low on the waist, with a scalloped hemline. To match the sparkly gown, she wore a crystal brooch in her hair.

Bolero jackets are a great way for brides to be modest without having to alter the original dress design.

Wedding Wednesday: Wedding Photo Tips

This week for Wedding Wednesday, I dusted off a piece I wrote originally for blue bijou that provides some great wedding photo tips I gleaned along the way. Enjoy!

When I got married in September 2005, I had a list of five absolutes for my wedding:

The groom (obviously)
The ring
The dress
The photographer
The honeymoon

While there are clearly varying degrees of importance, thankfully, even with a wedding on a budget, I didn’t have to sacrifice on any of these absolutes.

I knew exactly what I wanted from my wedding pictures. After asking around, I was referred to Sandra Leung. Sandra is the owner of the Yaletown Wedding Gallery in the trendy Yaletown district of Vancouver. After visiting Sandra’s studio and seeing the caliber of photographer she was, she was the natural choice. Didn’t she do a beautiful job?

Here are some things to consider when preparing for your wedding and bridal photos:

Wedding Photo Tip #1: Try the photo-journalistic approach.
This is the newest trend in wedding photography. As you can see, Sandra didn’t use the “cheese!” approach, rather allowed us wander ahead and captured the natural moments as they came. As my sister Stephanie said when she first saw Sandra’s website, “It looks like something from a magazine!”
Wedding Photo Tip #2: Wear more make-up than usual.
Much like when on stage or in theatre, the make-up you are wearing will look like less than it is. It may look like a little much, but it won’t in your photos. You may want to consider getting together with a make-up artist to learn some new techniques, or, hire one! Might I recommend Enizio, who do on-site hair and make-up for weddings or Redefine Your Image in the Salt Lake City area.
Wedding Photo Tip #3: Take your photos a day other than your wedding day.
We did our bridal and wedding photos several days before the wedding – by the time we were married, we were able to focus on the ceremony itself and not be distracted by the other details. After the luncheon, we just drove off into the sunset!
Wedding Photo Tip #4: Be willing to pay more than you anticipated.
While I had a particular price range in mind, it was definitely worth the stretch to get quality, lasting photographs. Trust me – when you are old, these photos will live on and you’ll be able to say to your grandkids, “Didn’t I look amazing!”
Wedding Photo Tip #5: Lead the camera lens through the process of getting ready.
Our photographer, Sandra, snapped a few shots during the make-up process before the dress was donned. In addition to some lovely photos of the dress, some of my favorite pictures of the whole afternoon are the ones of my mom lacing up my corset.
