In an effort to connect the short hair sisters of the world, each week for Short Hair Sunday, we’re going to feature a woman who is embracing her fierceness and femininity with short hair. This week is Amanda from Omaha, Nebraska!
Having short hair makes me feel:
Modern, sophisticated, and daring
What made you decide to cut your hair?
It’s extremely thick and neither curly nor straight, making it completely unmanageable when long. I cut it to chin length when I was 16 and then to pixie length at 21, and I don’t think I’ll ever go back. It also marks a turning point in my life, when I started to speak out more about politics and social concerns and I feel like having short hair gives me confidence to speak out.
My short hair icon is:
Emma Watson, Miley Cyrus, and this one girl in a science class I had once
My favorite hair product is:
Got2b CrazySleek Flat Iron and Blow Dry Lotion
If you could give one piece of advice to women considering short hair, what would it be?
Just go for it! I think everyone looks great with short hair and if you don’t like it, it’ll grow back. It’s just hair, right? Ask around for a stylist who has a good reputation with short hair (even if it’s not your usual stylist) and get some good wax or pomade to style it with.
