Daily Outfit: 50 Shades of Grey [Pinspiration]
Perhaps it’s just my mood but lately I’ve been wearing a lot of grey. A lot. And I’ve been loving it.
[Recently my camera fell on the ground and the lens has been having a hard time auto focusing, so forgive the slightly out of focus images.]
This outfit had been inspired by something I saw on Pinterest that I can’t find anywhere so here’s the next best thing from Cupcakes and Cashmere.

Daily Outfit: Happy Canada Day

What can I say? I bleed red. As a Canadian living in America, every Canada Day I feel it’s my responsibility to fly my flag through my clothes and wear red. That’s what Patriotism is all about, right?

Sunglasses – Nordstrom | Earrings – handcrafted by me | Red dress – Shabby Apple (also worn here and here) | Drape front cardigan – Nordstrom | Red belt – the modbod store | Gold watch – Fossil (similar) |

In other news, I got gum on my shoe during the shoe. At least it was red. And it made for some photos, so hey! We roll with it.

Also, Canada Day was July 1st. A belated happy birthday post to my true north strong and free.
Daily Outfit: Move Over, Pastels! Make Way for Colorblocking
We spent this Easter in Vancouver with my family and while traditionally people wear pastels for this spring holiday, I was having none of that. Out with pastels, in with colorblocking!

Outfit Breakdown
- Sunglasses – Nordstrom
- Earrings – Francsca’s (also worn here)
- Red dress – Shabby Apple (also worn here)
- Red belt – modbod
- Gold watch – Fossil
- Chevron nails – Jamberry Nails (check out our Jamberry Nails giveaway!)
- Teal ruffle skirt – Downeast Basics (also worn here)
You’ve gotta ged a closer look at these nails!

Of course, just because I’m not wearing pastels doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate chocolate wrapped in pastels…

Shabby Apple Color Blocks – The Block Collection
Shabby Apple recently debuted a new line of color blocking basic items called The Block. What a great collection of pieces you could dress up or down and wear everyday this spring.
Can’t get enough of this dress! It would be so much fun to dress up and down.
This skirt looks so much like my Forever 21 pleated orange skirt.
Have you been color blocking this season? Are you inspired to start? For more ideas, check our post on Red and Pink Colorblocking.
Daily Outfit – Seeing Red | The Rule of Layering

I have been wearing a lot of red lately since it is a color that grounds me. The idea of layering the turtleneck for warmth ended up working wonderfully! If you want to try a similar look, this is the layering rule of thumb:
Every layer to the outside must be visually or actually heavier.
In other words, you won’t be wearing a light chiffon blouse over a thick wool sweater, it would just look ridiculous. But you could wear a silk turtleneck underneath a wool sweater, for example.
Outfit Breakdown
- Red dress - Shabby Apple (also worn here and here)
- Black turtleneck – Gap
- Belt – RW&Co.
- Tights – Kohl’s
- Ankle booties – Naturalizer

What’s your favorite way to layer?
PS: Today’s blog was inspired by Freckles in April, a blog that’s doing a 10 day winter challenge. Today’s challenge was to wear something bright!

I’m all over this vintage style suit with lots of coverage through the thighs and a bandeau top. The black is slimming and the side ruching will help confuse the eye if you have a little tummy.
The Shabby Apple Venizia swimsuit is the one that has me swooning this season! The sporty stripes and black sash are decidedly European for a total sophisticate feel.
Rey Swimwear is a collection of suits inspired by Audrey Hepburn by actress Jessica Rey. Everything has a decidedly vintage feel.
The sophisticated and minimalistic Dash of Sass suit by Pearl Swimwear is cut low in the back so you can show off your suave back.
