Sunday Style: Mixed Messages

Mixed prints have been all the rage for a few seasons and it always poses a good challenge to make it work. The rule of thumb is to choose pieces that share a color scheme, like this polka dot blouse and striped floral pants. (More on mixed prints here.)

Back in the sixth grade (or grade 6, as we like to call it in Canada) I had a spunky Asian homeroom teacher that taught me calligraphy. To this day I remember her signature look — palazzo pants with a sleeveless collared button-up shirt. This woman had spunk and style and today’s outfit is incredibly reminiscent of her.

I can safely say that these palazzo pants are the most comfortable pants that I own. There’s plenty of room to move and the wide leg pant provides plenty of air flow for these hot summer days. If you don’t own a pair, I’d seriously consider picking one up!

  1. I love this look! I'm from Canada and I still say "grade x" not "xth grade." People look at me funny but I can't break the habit! Anyway, thanks for giving me style ideas. I have a pair of red satin palazzo pants that I wore in the winter. I think they'd work for summer too!

  2. Good for you, holding onto your Canadian-isms! Whereabouts in Canada are you from? I'm a Vancouver girl myself. Those palazzo pants of yours sound stunning! How perfect for the holidays as well.

  3. I'm from Toronto. I'd never actually been to Vancouver until after I moved to Seattle. It's a great city too! I'll hand on to a few Canadian-isms, don't worry :)

  4. Great photos. They look amazing up against that wall. Adds to the graphic black and white and the striking poses. Fab!! Thanks for sharing.
