Daily Outfit: Wear Something that Scares You

For Freckles in April‘s 10th day in the Winter Challenge, she challenged us to wear something that scares you. It took me a long time to figure out something that freaked me out in my closet but this is what I came up with:

I’m scared of wearing:

  • white pants for fear they’re going to get stained
  • the same thing two days in a row
  • precious pieces of jewelry
  • overly tailored jackets because it makes me look too corporate
  • high heels because of what they do to my ankles

Today I threw caution to the wind and wore all of these things.

Outfit Breakdown

  • Rust blazer – thrifted
  • Multi-strand necklace – gift from Grandma
  • Paisley tunic, transformed into a tube top – Nordstrom Rack (I wore this yesterday, but differently)
  • Nude layering tee – modbod
  • Braided belt – F21
  • Watch – fossil
  • Bracelet – Annie M. Jewelry
  • Nail polish – Deborah Lippmann @ Nordstrom
  • White pants – Gap
  • Nude heels – some shoe store I can’t recall

One thing I am not scared of is orange. It’s my favorite color and wearing it gave me courage so wear all these other things that scare me.

Fill in the blank: Wearing ________ scares me.

Wow – I love the burnt orange blazer with the white pants. It is very pulled together. I also love how you styled the tunic. I think it adds just the right amount of whimsy to your outfit.

I just realized another thing that I am scared of – wearing a lighter color skirt or pants with a dark shirt.

Love the whole ensemble. That blazer is great, and I especially love your heels!

  3. Kayla says:

    Your nails are killer gorgeous.

  4. Thanks, Kayla. My sister, Mom and I have been having a nail party at my place this with this amazing copper color.

  5. Thanks Immayer — when I first found the blazer at the thrift shop I thought it would be a great display piece but ended up loving it. The heels are great, but definitely sitting shoes :) -Sarah

  6. Thank you for your lovely compliment! You\’re absolutely right — the flowing paisley tunic definitely balances the more structured pieces.

Re: wearing a lighter color skirt or pants, give it a try and see how it works! Let me know how it all plays out for you.

  7. That rust blazer is everything. Paired with white pants, it's a go-go-go! Work it, Sarah!

  8. Thanks Chandra! You\’re so kind to say so! although tangerine tango is everywhere, rust is a muted shade of orange that virtually everyone can wear.

  9. Mandy says:

I love your hair!!! This outfit is great!!! Where are your glasses from?

  10. Thanks Mandy! I\’ve found it\’s way fun having short hair :) The sunglasses are from Nordstrom — I think they were like $10 or something ridiculous like that!
