Daily Outfit: Back in Black [Pinspiration]

I live in Seattle and in my city you see an awful lot of black. We get like 300 days of rain per year, so you can’t blame us for dressing the part. Most days I fight the black on black, but every so often I embrace it. Particularly when we have all this Utah snow as a backdrop!

Earrings: Francesca’s | Turtleneck: Old Navy | Sequin skirt: DownEast Basics | Tights: [somewhere] | Ankle booties: Macy’s

Today’s Pinspiration.

(Since I hadn’t seen the image for a few weeks, I neglected to add appropriate accessories. I could have always reshot with more jewelry, but I froze half to death for these pictures. So it’s fine.)

Monochromatic outfit rule of thumb: be sure to add texture to add visual interest!

Great job on capturing the inspiration – dead on, I like the black on black very chic, I feel you on the cold weather our snow is just melting from Christmas. Happy belated new year.

  3. Thanks Rachymaree for stopping by and your kind words! Happy New Year :)

  4. Thank you for your great feedback, Carrie! I haven't done too many outfit inspiration things like this, but like where it's taking me. Snow is so beautiful when it initially falls, but I bet you're looking forward to spring — I know I am! Happy belated new year to you as well.

Very elegant! I like your tip about textures to keep visual interest.

  6. Thank you, Jean! It's true — and none of us want to dress boring. :) Happy New Year to you.

Love the idea of blogging a 'pinspired' look. You look fab! Btw, try not to bring that snow back to Seattle, ok? ;-)

  8. Thanks JPotMont! Perhaps the Seattle Bloggers can start a regular pinspiration look? With the warm temperatures we've been having in Seattle, I can safely say that I won't be bringing any snow back to the PNW :)

I agree with your rule for monochromatic outfits – texture is definitely a must! And I think you pulled it off beautifully here. And very dramatic photos against all that white snow!
