Daily Outfit: One Mint Julep
By far my favorite trend for Spring | Summer 2013 is the color mint. I can’t get enough of it and was tickled pink (or mint…?) when I found the perfect chiffon mint top at DownEast Basics. So in continuation of the trend to name all my outfit posts after songs this year, I bring you One Mint Julep!

Daily Outfit: Red Alert [Pinspiration]
Sometimes the best outfits come together randomly on a Friday morning as you stand in front of your closet. That’s exactly what happened for this outfit. And sometimes the best place to take outfit pictures is in the mattress isle at Ikea. Just sayin’.

If you’re needing inspiration for outfits, Pinterest is a must. It’s full of great examples of real women remixing clothes from their closets. With these images from Seersucker and Saddles and The Glitter Guide fresh in my mind, this outfit came together easily.
Where do you get your style inspiration?

Working With Ellen For My I’m A Mormon Shoot
Right before Halloween, I received a phone call from the folks at the I’m a Mormon campaign saying they were going to be flying out to Seattle to film me for two days for a day-in-the-life feature for the I’m a Mormon campaign. (!!!) It was a totally exhilarating experience and we talking in depth about the four pinnacles of my life: faith, fashion, flamenco, and feminism.
For the shoot, I needed to find a new client so I put out an invitation on Facebook and was serendipitously connected with the fabulous Ellen Rowan, social media marketer for Rivet & Sway. We went to her home to meet her and work with her in person and it couldn’t have been a more perfect fit! A true artist, Ellen’s wardrobe was full of whimsical clothes that expressed her free-spirited personality and personal values. We were fast friends, bonding over our mutual love of funky frames and cats, and in the short time we had together, we whipped up three delicious new outfits from her closet.
Ellen loved seeing her closet through new eyes and was delighted with the new combinations. The last outfit involved styling a skirt as a tunic shirt and layering a corduroy jacket overtop with jeans and edgy, hot mama motorcycle boots.
I feel tremendously blessed to have had this opportunity to share my story and experiences for the campaign. Truly, I can’t wait to see the finished product and share it with you!
Daily Outfit: Double Take

Top – Ross | Bronze multi-strand necklace – Forever21 | Skinny jeans – Kohl’s | Sandals – Nordstrom Rack | False eyelashes – Target
People freuquently tell me that I resemble the girl from a Knight’s Tale, Shannyn Sossaman — in fact, it even happened today at the dentist’s office. I’ve glimpsed the resemblance in the past but it wasn’t until I saw this photo from this set that I really saw it.
Looking at the comparison photos below (L: me, R: Shannyn) It’s rather uncanny. When I posted the images on Facebook, even my own mother thought they were both me.

Who’s your celebrity doppelganger?
Warby Parker’s Chic New Summer Glasses Line
I am a sucker for cool eyewear. While eyewear may not be the first accessory that comes to mind for you, it’s certainly something you can change up depending on how you feel. Warby Parker is a line of affordable eyewear — how does a pair of frames and the prescription lenses for a cool $95 sound to you? — that donates a pair of glasses every time frames are purchased.
This summer, Warby Parker has released a limited time collection called Summer Crystals that are light, bright, and utterly collectable. I can’t get enough of them! Since their marketing campaign is brilliant, highlighting the aqua and coral color scheme beautifully, here’s some literal eye candy for you.
Check out their collection at www.warbyparker.com!
Daily Outfit: Orange Crush

Last week for my birthday, my husband bought me a remote control for my DSLR camera, which essentially remove him from the equation of taking photos for me on a regular basis. Can I just tell you that this remote control feels like a game changer? I have read on other outfit blogs that people prefer the photos they take of themselves far more than the ones anyone else takes for them. After this shoot, I knew exactly what they meant.

Do you ever go for monochromatic outfits like this? What color do you wear?
Daily Outfit: At the Opera

Recently we were in Vancouver to watch my little sister Saundra graduated from high school. The graduation was held at the historic Orpheum Theater, a picturesque setting that regularly houses the opera. Being that our last name is Ward, we slipped out for an impromptu photo shoot from graduates A-T and got these great shots in the process.

This shot of my brothers remind me of the Darjeeling Limited Wes Anderson movie.

And she walks!

Daily Outfit: Semi-Cocktail, Semi-Business Dress Code

After deciding to attend my first Girl Power Hour cocktail networking event in Seattle, I had no idea what to wear. Yeah. Image consultants deal with that, too. I tweeted my girl Kat Kim who was going to be moderating the panel what the dress code was. She suggested semi-cocktail, semi-business. That I could do! So here’s what I came up with.

Earrings: Francesca’s | Red blazer: modbod (similar) | Gold clutch: thrifted (similar) | Navajo print tank: Francesca’s | Gold watch: Fossil (similar) | White pants: Gap | Gold peep-toe shoes: thrifted

Before I left for the event, I tweeted a photo of my outfit on Instagram with the #fitfab hashtag. When I went to introduce myself to Darnell Sue, Girl Power Hour’s founder, she recognized me from the photo I posted. Social media really does open the door to making connections with people.

The Girl Power Hour theme was Fit and Fabulous and the panel had some fantastic things to say. One of my biggest takeaways was to deconstruct your craving. Ask yourself what that craving is really about. Do you need that food or do you really need a hug? Then act on the root cause of it. Check out more Fit and Fabulous takeaways here.

On the way home, the girls were talking about how they learned about colorblocking by seeing how the pink and red came together beautifully. Pink and red colorblocking is a big trend right now and it works in a way you wouldn’t expect it to.

They sell name brand clothing on consignment for a significant discount and the owner Natalia has a great eye for bringing in items that align with current trends along with fabulous local designers. Plus, she has the most fabulous short hair, care of the cast of Gary Manuel. Isn’t it edgy and fun?
Check out Sell Your Sole at 2121 1st Ave. Suite 101 in Downtown Seattle.
Can’t Fight the Flip
When you have hair with a natural wave, sometimes it just does what it wants to, with or without your permission. Exhibit A. My hair air dried and formulated this fabulous little flip.

I used to try to keep the flip under control by straightening it, but a funny thing happened one day when I was too lazy to do anything about it. Everyone loved it!
Sometimes I think we inherently have style present within ourselves and we just have to get out of the way and stop overthinking things to allow that style to be made manifest. Because sometimes my hair just knows what to do. What do you think?
